Military Memoir Editor of Bill Mercer’s Oklahoma to Okinawa: 18K Miles on the LCI(G) 439 — A Signalman’s WWII Naval Memoir

It was a great honor to serve as a military memoir editor for Bill Mercer.

This renowned sportscaster and inductee into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame had an astounding career in broadcast media. He was also inducted into the University of North Texas Athletic Department Hall of Fame, the Texas Baseball Ex-Pro’s Baseball Hall of Fame, the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Hall of Fame, and the University of Texas-Dallas Athletic Department Hall of Honor.

Bill’s name might be familiar. In 2004, he co-authored When the News Went Live: Dallas 1963, a never-before-written account of what happened on the scene in Dallas in 1963 when the nation lost President John F. Kennedy.

What a privilege to work with an author of his caliber.

Military Memoir Editor

A must-read for military buffs, naval enthusiasts, and World War II historians.

After retiring and pondering his role in the Second World War, Bill wrote a fascinating account of his time in the Navy titled Oklahoma to Okinawa: 18K Miles on the LCI(G) 439 — A Signalman’s WWII Naval Memoir.

His military memoir captures his maritime adventures as a young man, harrowing conflicts in battle, the challenges of seafaring service, and the camaraderie of life aboard a naval vessel. If you’re interested in military history and naval escapades, this book is for you.

A Kind Nod

It’s always great to hear back from my author clients, especially with testimonials about their book editing experiences. I enjoyed collaborating with Bill and witnessing his manuscript come to life, and learning more about a captivating time in history when our greatest generation went to war.

“We appreciate your involvement in our book effort. It is a real book after your expert attention to all details. Thank you so much.” ~ Bill Mercer
