This example made me laugh out loud:

OMG, you just have to read “A Treatise on the Eradication of Rhamnus cathartica”!

(File under: "said no one ever.")

Also, I much prefer:

“It’s mine!” Ivan grabbed the phone.

to:

“It’s mine!” shouted Ivan as he grabbed the phone.

because by using the exclamation point we've already told the reader that Ivan shouted, so it feels more economical to not overemphasize his shoutiness.
