shop REIExpert advice from REI Coop helps to educate and inform buyers. The company has many hundreds of educational articles and videos about all things outdoors. This fabulous content leads people into the physical stores as well as drives online purchases.

expert adviceOver the past few years, I’ve rekindled a childhood love for hiking and camping. As such, I’ve needed to purchase gear as well as learn (and re-learn) skills.

As I poked around the Web, I’ve found the REI site to be the best place to learn.

The content has been super helpful for me to prepare for about a dozen day hikes I enjoyed on the Appalachian Trail in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont this season. I’ve hiked about 50 miles in sections and loved it!

Each of the categories of products that REI sells, including camping, hiking, climbing, cycling, running, and others has a series of dozens or hundreds of articles.

Expert buying advice

The REI content includes gear guides, expert buying advice, skills, checklists, and more. I’ve checked out backpacking articles like “Backpacking in bear country”, “Staff Picks: The Best Backpacking Packs of 2022”, and “How to Pack for Ultralight Backpacking”.

These videos and articles are organized by topic and the products and expert advice appear on the same navigation.

Besides the online content, the in-store experts are super helpful. They are outdoor enthusiasts who share their love and knowledge with newbies.

Since 1938, Recreational Equipment, Inc. - REI - has been an outdoor adventure co-op. They provide expert advice and sell top-quality gear and apparel and offer rental equipment. Because the organization has no shareholders, every purchase made with REI helps to steward the outdoors and supports sustainable business and help the fight for life outside.

Now, the experts at REI are helping me plan a new adventure. I’m hiking Vermont’s Long Trail in sections next season. The 273-mile trail runs the entire state from Massachusetts to Canada and is the oldest long-distance trail in the United States, constructed between 1910 and 1930 by the Green Mountain Club.

Once I’ve done much the trail in sections, I plan to do the entire trail as a thru-hike which should take me about 25 days.

No matter what your business, online content allows your business to educate and inform instead of interrupt and sell.

Take a look at REI for how it’s done right!
