The ad copy on a box of CDs. Now imagine the web copy on your site. If you’re not telling your readers to go and look at that copy, it’s getting no more attention than the instructions on your toothpaste box. James: Do you feel there’s an “ethical&# type of copy and a “snake oil&# type of copy? I think writing copy is a little like being a lawyer. Now, if you know something is a lie, you have to make a personal decision about whether you want to write the copy. Writing sales copy is noble and necessary.
