It blows my mind that as I write this the ProBlogger book is 15 years old. In this series, I would like to answer the following questions (plus anything else you would like me to cover): Can we learn from how blogging has changed from when we started writing the book in 2007 to now?

There is no right or wrong answer to that question as each blog will be different depending upon the topic, your writing style and the purpose of your blog. There are no prizes for guessing what time of year this post went live – that’s right – in the lead up to 4 July 2007 (about 6 months after the site launched).

Your writing becomes programmed (verse, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus). When I launched The Smart Marketing Blog in 2007, my posts were eclectic random. One day, a post about bus stop ads, the next day, how to set-up PDFs to open at screen height, and another day, musings on a new social network. Write for them.

We write about hotels and restaurants and tourists and sites and activities, and have some list posts. I didn’t have to call or write someone and be at their mercy. Having a way to write, publish and archive on my computer without needing to be in WordPress is quite handy. Now freelance writing is a new career stem if you like.
